Bacilor is a probiotic product, based on the Lcr35 strain, with drug status. It is classified as an antidiarrhoeal microorganism, ATC code A07 FA01, and is to be used in addition to rehydration and/or dietary measures in the symptomatic treatment of diarrhoea in adults and children. Bacilor is available under two different presentations, both of them with storage at room temperature:
- Capsules, with 250 mg of lyophilised culture of Lactobacillus casei variety rhamnosus containing a minimum of 2 x 108 cells per capsule guaranteed until the end of the shelf life
- Sticks for children, with 1.5 g of lyophilised culture of Lactobacillus casei variety rhamnosus containing a minimum of 1.5 x 108 cells per sachet guaranteed until the end of the shelf life.
This drug is used internationally in more than 15 countries. With more than 50 years of usage in diarrhoea, it benefits of a well established medical use in this indication and is supported by multiple in vivo clinical studies.
